It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
